Welcome to the Bay to Park Paseo, a soon to be unveiled 1.7 mile walking experience along Park Boulevard from San Diego Bay to Balboa Park. The Paseo will open in 2024. The goal to connect two of San Diego’s iconic gems – the San Diego Bay and Balboa Park – has been around for more than 100 years. It’s time to do it!
Teams of talented designers, artists and storytellers are working to design and install a memorable Paseo. Open for all to enjoy in 2024.
The project is presented by presented by Pete Garcia and Beth Callender of URBAN INTERVENTIONS and Chloé Lauer and is a fiscally sponsored project of the Downtown San Diego Public Spaces Foundation.
In each newsletter update, we will introduce you to one of the Paseo design teams to share more about their process and the inspiration behind their design.

Meet Rob Quigley of Rob Wellington Quigley Architects, FAIA (and lead architect on the San Diego Central Library) and the storytellers at OurWorlds who are using technology to revolutionize how indigenous cultures share their narratives with the world.
We’re excited to announce the Bay to Park Paseo has been endorsed as part of the World Design Capital 2024. This is a great opportunity to showcase the talent of the design community and create a unique walking experience for both residents and visitors.
Port of San Diego
Many thanks for the support of the PORT of San Diego as the Paseo’s BAY SPONSOR and a leading sponsor for this effort.
